As Australia’s infrastructure pipeline grows, cable drum sizes are increasing. Project owners are specifying longer continuous cable runs — from HV power distribution to telecommunications and mining — and ordering larger cable reels from manufacturers like Hengtong, Prysmian and Nexans to reduce jointing costs and installation time. The result: heavy cable drums regularly reaching 20–30 tonnes that existing equipment wasn’t designed to handle.

Titan Series cable trailer in the field with jinker — active cable deployment on rugged terrain

The traditional approach — a low-loader trailer for transport, a mobile crane or forklift for cable drum loading, and a separate cable drum stand or cable reel trailer for laying — requires multiple machines, multiple operators, and hours of coordination. On remote sites or active construction zones, that complexity compounds quickly.

The Belco Titan Series Cable Drum Trailer — available in 10T, 20T, and 30T configurations — was engineered to replace that entire equipment chain with a single unit.

Road Train Cable Drum Jinker

A purpose-built solution

Unlike adapted trailers or imported cable drum handling equipment, the Titan Series was designed from the ground up in Brisbane, Australia. It combines cable drum transport, self-loading, and controlled cable deployment into one purpose built asset, powered by an integrated diesel hydraulic system, or your tow vehicle and operated by wireless remote.

Titan Series trailers handle cable drums up to 4.3m in diameter and 4m wide across three models — 10T, 20T, and 30T — covering spectrum of power cable reels, telecommunications cable drums, and mining cable drums used in Australian infrastructure projects. Contractors can match the right unit to the job rather than over-specifying or compromising.

One machine. One operator.

The self-loading drum drive eliminates the need for a crane or forklift at the drum staging area. The trailer operator picks up, positions, and deploys the cable reel independently. Multi-directional drum drive and variable speed control deliver cable at up to 5 km/h with consistent tension — critical for HV cable laying where controlled payout protects cable integrity.

What previously required multiple machines and operators now takes one person. Cable drum setup and changeover time drops significantly.

Cable Drum Handler remote control

Built for real conditions

Walking beam suspension and air braking handle the rough terrain, remote access tracks, and active construction environments where underground cable installation actually happens. The robust chassis is built to AS3990. Fold-in wheels simplify transport between sites. A hydraulic operated tailgate and hands-free loading reduces manual handling risks.

Compatible with major cable projects across the following categories:

      • High voltage power distribution
      • Renewable energy
      • Telecommunications infrastructure
      • Mining site power reticulation and shutdowns
      • Civil and infrastructure projects
      • Data centers

Flexible by design

Side arm or over-the-back cable laying — the Titan Series adapts to site layout. The same cable reel trailer platform works across project types, reducing the need to source specialised equipment for each job.

 Specifications

      • Drum capacity: 10T, 20T, or 30T models
      • Max drum diameter: 4.3m
      • Max drum width: 4.0m
      • Cable payout speed: up to 5 km/h
      • Suspension: walking beam
      • Braking: Air
      • Standards: AS3990, AS1554-SP

The Titan Series cable trailer adapts to site layout rather than dictating it. The same trailer works across power distribution, telecommunications, and major civil projects.
